Route to Pesaro from the deep north. Yesterday the streets of the city center were stormed by a swarm of tourists, mostly coming from northern Italy and attracted, in many cases, by the call of the capital of culture. Families with children or couples alone or in a group. This is the identikit of the traveler who chose Pesaro to spend the long weekend on April 25th. The presences recorded between the Civic Museums and Casa Rossini were 630 and mostly these were local tourism, i.e. Italian visitors. “We come from Belluno – say Giovanni Mazzon and Beatrice de Colle, who met yesterday morning – we have chosen a small holiday to visit the small villages. Now we are discovering Rossini’s house”. The composer’s house was the destination for a large number of visitors who, throughout yesterday, did not miss the opportunity to take a selfie in Rossini’s rooms or send a greeting to the friends who remained at home next to the instruments of era. “Finally on holiday – exclaim Giorgio Zanolini and Lorena Romanato from Bovolone, in the province of Vicenza –. We had never been to Pesaro until now and we gave ourselves a few days to visit the 2024 capital of culture”. And there are also those who have included our city in a broader tour itinerary to discover the territory and its artistic beauties. “The Pesaro stop – says Cristina Masciadri, from Como – is part of a learning journey on art and the rediscovery of smaller towns. You have some very valuable works such as the cathedral, the mosaics, the museum. It’s the first time that I come to the city and obviously I also visited Urbino”.

And then there are also those who travel in groups. This is the case of Monica Porro, Alessandra Colombo and Stefania Farina, from Vicenza, met in the courtyard of the Civic Museums. “We’re just passing through here for a six-person holiday, with our husbands. We’re visiting the Marche and are headed to Jesi. Pesaro is a wonderful city.” After a morning and before facing an afternoon discovering the beauties of the city, if your stomach is growling, you couldn’t miss out on a stop at the International Street Food at Palla di Pomodoro. Thanks to a clear sky, even if with a decidedly unspringlike climate, the food trucks parked on the seafront were a pleasant and delicious stop for many customers. Until Sunday 28 April, from 12pm to midnight, it will be possible to participate in the initiative dedicated to quality street food with proposals ranging from kebabs to Argentine grilled meat.
