The Granata collected the same points in the 14th return leg of 22-23. More draws for Juric compared to last year
Torino’s season is heading towards the end credits, with the serious risk of remaining out of the most succulent discussions of the championship for another year. The grenades find themselves, as usual in Cairo management, mid-table, with the difference that for a certain point it seemed more feasible for Juric’s team to try to start a sensible discussion of European qualification. This is partly due to Toro’s strong point to be identified in a high-level defensive phase, as a counterbalance to an offensive performance from the relegation zone. Therefore, if we have talked about Europe, we must also say that it is also a disadvantage for some big disappointments this season like Lazio, Napoli and Fiorentina, well below the standards we were accustomed to last year. This year, from the 20th onwards, there were successes against Cagliari, Lecce, Udinese and Monza, draws against Genoa, Salernitana, Sassuolo, Fiorentina, Naples, Juventus and Frosinone and defeats against Lazio, Rome and Empoli. Thus the victories and defeats have decreased. What makes the difference are therefore the numerous draws, as many as 7 in this return group with the 4 from last year.
Toro, it’s complicated to reach 53
Difficult, with five days available, to match the 53 points last year, once we reached the 38th and final day. On the 33rd day of the 2022-2023 season, the Granata were at 45. 8 points therefore gained in the last five outings, represented by the victories against Verona and Spezia, the draws with Monza and Fiorentina and the only misstep against Inter. Today, starting with one point more, it would seem much more complicated to match last year’s score. Faced with the Granata, a prohibitive schedule to say the least. We start on Sunday with a new match against Inter, then it’s up to Bologna, Verona, Milan and Atalanta, except for the Nerazzurri teams who could still be fighting for their seasonal goals. Tear off seven points, then at least win two gamesfor the current Taurus, appears to be an arduous task.
