Ten years ago the mountaineering feat of the Apuan Ligurians. An exhibition to commemorate the ascent to Manaslu

Ten years have passed since the mountaineering expedition of the Apuan Ligurians coordinated by the “Il Cigno” Consortium with the participation of numerous
Ligurian and Tuscan sections of the Italian Alpine Club. In the autumn of 2013 nine climbers faced the difficult ascent of Manaslu in the Nepalese Himalayas, which at 8163 meters represents the eighth highest peak on the planet. Beyond the mere sporting value of the climb and the results, the expedition represented a great example of solidarity and friendship towards the small communities encountered on the journey to the base cap. Another aspect to remember is the use, during the climb, of some products from the Ligurian Apuan territory including honey from the Calicese territory used at high altitude in the phase of approaching the summit.

The images of the Nepalese communities and some moments of the climb come to life in an interesting photographic exhibition which will be inaugurated on Sunday 28 April at 5.30 pm with the participation of two members of the expedition, Maurizio Cattani and Lorenzo Ratti, from the CAI Section of La Spezia. The venue for the initiative is the Val di Vara Gallery window in the Outlet Village Brugnato – 5Terre. The exhibition will remain open on holidays and days before holidays from 28th April to 12th May from 3pm to 7pm including the date of 1st May with free admission.
