Concerts, picnics and debates for the Liberation Day – Pescara

PESCARA. Weather permitting, it will truly be a party that CGIL and ANPI have organized today, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation, in collaboration with the municipal administration. The appointment is at 11am in the park of the former Di Cocco barracks where throughout the day, with the grand finale entrusted to the free concert of the Modena City Ramblers at 9.30pm, there will be a succession of appointments for adults and children, with moments dedicated to reflection. But first, at 9am, an important stop is in front of the memorial stone dedicated to the martyrs of Colle Pineta (primary school 11 February 1944), where the 9 killed partisans will be commemorated. Nine young people from the Banda Palombaro partisan formation which was formed in Chieti on 9 September 1943, who were captured for the denunciation of some fascists between 13 January and 3 February 1944 and then locked up and tortured in the prisons of San Francesco, in Chieti , were shot on 11 February 1944 in a former brickyard in Colle Pineta. “In this precise historical moment we must decisively affirm the values of our Constitution”, repeated the general secretary of the CGIL Pescara, Luca Ondifero and the president of Anpi Pescara Nicola Palombaro, underlining: «This year we wanted to organize an even more important April 25th, there is an authoritarian drift that affects our country and beyond, in this precise historical moment we need to give a very important signal. We must decisively affirm the values of our Constitution.” «Nothing is definitive», reiterated the Anpi president, Palombaro, «values such as democracy and freedom must be defended every day, with our commitment. It will be a day of remembrance, of debates, commitment but also of celebration.”
Therefore, after the opening of the stands at 11am, the program will begin which, including picnics, workshops for children and a football tournament, will end with two free concerts: the first at 8.30pm, by Miriam Ricordi and the second at 9.30pm with the Modena City Ramblers.
Among the events, the debate “One, democratic and supportive? The Constitution between differentiated autonomy and premiership” with Vincenzo Calò (Anpi national secretariat), Lara Ghiglione (CGIL national secretariat) e Marcello Salernoprofessor of public law at the University of Annunzio Chieti-Pescara.
