Telling the varied essence of the city of Naples in a single image that summarizes its cultural history and food and wine tradition. It is the idea with which the first artistic decoration competition was born “Knowledge and Flavors of Naples” (HERE the announcement), launched by the Neapolitan company Expressed for the creation of an original design of a collector’s dish which will be part of the prestigious “Limited Edition” of the 3 kilogram big size artisanal Espresso panettone. One of the flagship products of the Espresso Dolciaria line company segment which will be among the goodies of Christmas 2024 handcrafted by the master pastry chef Salvatore Tortora and available for shipments worldwide starting next October.

The idea comes from the communications company Italya, which has a management with over thirty years of experience in communicating the excellence of Made in Italy products, and in recent years has been the protagonist, among many initiatives, of the compriamoitaliano.it and the desygnitaliano.com project.

«The link between our high quality confectionery production, which for many years has been accompanied by that of coffee roasting, and the artistic excellence of our territory – highlights Giuseppe Mauro, CEO of Espresso – it’s not new. The last two editions of our big size artisanal panettone were accompanied by decorated plates of great artistic value signed first by Lello Esposito and then by Antonio Avagliano. But this year we have chosen to gather the innovative ideas of artists, designers, students and art enthusiasts in general around the combination of knowledge and flavours, which, in our opinion, represents the most appropriate way to describe the Naples ‘brand’ beyond the usual stereotypes.”

The competition is open until May 31st to adult artists of all nationalities who wish to send unpublished and original proposals. To win the prize of one thousand euros and great international visibility, the design must be created to be reproduced with an artistic silk-screen print on a dinner plate with a diameter of 40 cm and must reflect the specific theme of Naples and its artistic beauties . «In Naples in the era of the boom in mass tourism and not always quality street food on every street corner – he explains Nino Salemme, executive creative director of Italya – we thought it was even more important to return to underlining the often ‘artistic’ value of the high quality gastronomic products that are produced in our city and in our region such as those worked by the expert hands of the Master Pastry Chef of the Espresso Salvatore Tortora group”.
