One month after the Roman award “Versi come diamonds”, three new awards in the land of Calabria

A Lamezia Terme of culture, a Lamezia that we like, a Lamezia that needs ambassadors operating in the field of knowledge in its many facets: an example is Francesco D’Amico, who despite starting from an academic education focused on Earth Sciences, he has been lending himself to the world of literature for over a decade and with important results.

After the numerous awards accrued over the years in various regions of Italy from north to south, 2024 also seems to have “started off with a bang”: after the Roman recognition “Versi come diamonds”, obtained thanks to three poetic lyrics, in Over the course of two days in this month of April characterized by fluctuating weather, there are three new awards obtained by our fellow citizen: a Medal of Honour, with Certificate, at the “Luigi Tucci” literary competition of the Pro Loco Petrizzi with the work “ Glacial Eyes”; the RinnovaMenti special prize at the Maria Fabiano Aiello Memorial in Rogliano (CS) thanks to the lyric “Mater”; the prestigious President’s Plaque with Certificate and Critical Motivation, with the work “Friends of Man, enemies of Time” at the “Marco Polo” competition organized and promoted by the Accademia dei Bronzi (Catanzaro) on the occasion of the seven centuries anniversary of disappearance of the great Italian explorer.

This latest winning work was included by the Academy itself in the first volume of the anthology “Poetic Voices of the XXI Century”, which will be sent to fifty Italian public libraries.

As usual, the works presented take on a versatility of themes and styles, given that they range from the most classic themes of poetry, those known to most people, up to the so-called “scientific poetry”, i.e. a style that draws its own verses from notions and concepts coming from various branches of Science.

The collection of poems published by Francesco D’Amico in 2017 and entitled “Riflessioni dall’Infinito”, edited by the Vitale publishing house of Sanremo (Imperia), places its foundations precisely on this poetic experiment.

The work was presented in 2018 in Lamezia Terme, on the occasion of a charity event with the proceeds entirely donated to the AIRC.
