An implication halfway between the incredible and the grotesque, what arrives at the end of this April 25th in Como. This was told by the participants in the celebration of the Liberation which took place at the elementary school in via Viganò, dedicated to the partisan Severino Gobbi. From Goito, in the province of Mantua, the family moved to Como a few months after Severino’s birth in 1926. Then, in the final years of the fascist and Nazi dictatorship, Gobbi, still very young, joined the partisans in the Redi division , however, he was killed by the Nazis with 10 other companions on 24 March 1945 in Solcio di Lesa, in the Novara area. He was only 18 years old.

Well, today – according to the complaint – for the first time the Municipality of Como did not send the usual laurel wreath to remember the partisan who fell for freedom, despite the presence in the city of Severino Gobbi’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Below is the story of the story.

Like every year, today Thursday 25 April 2024 we celebrate the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation, the Elderly Association “I Ragazzi della Terza Età di Como Borghi” has promoted the commemoration and the laying of a laurel wreath to our fellow citizen “Partisan Severino Gobbi”.

The event began at 9.30 am with the participants meeting at the house where the family of Partisan Severino Gobbi lived in Via Castellini 4/C (photo below).

After a short speech, the small procession reached the elementary school in Via Viganò named after Severino Gobbi. In front of the plaque commemorating the young partisan, a memorial was made to the painful episode in which he, along with other young people like him, were victims of a ferocious Nazi-fascist reprisal. Severino Gobbi had not yet turned 19.

The commemoration was also attended by Severino Gobbi’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the province of Mantua. It was not possible to deposit the usual laurel wreath because, as the representative of the “children of the elderly” association of Como Borghi observed with regret, for the first time the municipality of Como did not send it.
