CASTELFRANCO VENETO (TREVISO) – «We are convinced that the best way to remember you is by celebrating the joy of living, a feeling that you embodied better than anyone else.” Thus begins the touching greeting message from friends to Monica Reginato, 55 years old, an expert instructor at the CAI of Castelfranco, who tragically passed away last Saturday during an outing on the Sorapiss together with some of her friends. Composed but palpable emotion in a Crowded cathedral for the last farewell to “Moki”: next to his mother Domitilla, his brother Giovanni with Laura, his nephews, the whole family and friends, many people, simple acquaintances or customers of the historic Reginato leather goods shop they wanted to be present for the farewell to a vital woman, appreciated and esteemed by all those who knew her, but also well aware of the risks of the mountains and unpredictable coincidences that leave no escape.

THE HUG

After the service, all those present approached relatives and friends for a hug, together with a caress on the coffin, on which the CAI flag, for a final farewell. The contagious laughter, the uninterrupted chats, the sunny smile, the mocha ready in the morning, the great love for the mountains that she managed to transmit to those around her, always recommending prudence and attention, the unforgettable classroom lessons: these are the characteristics and the moments spent together that friends wanted to remember of Monica Reginato at the beginning of the ceremony. «When you entered a room you were like a lighthouseyou illuminated every space, you brought optimism and enthusiasm for any initiative – the friends continued – You had the courage to put yourself out there and when necessary you knew how to self-criticize, revealing your innate empathy. Thank you for encouraging us to be proactive, thank you for your lessons: you were the only operational instructor in the school and your presence was felt. Put these lines in your backpack and take them with youand remember to read them from time to time: they are the greetings from a group of friends who will miss you dearly».

THE CONDOLENCE

The whole city, also represented by the mayor Stefano Marcon and the vice-mayor Marica Galante, rallied around the Reginato family. Monica Reginato, daughter of the owners of Pelletterie Reginato, a historic shop in the center of Castelfranco, for 20 years was part of the CAI “Le Torri” mountaineering school with responsibility, competence and periodic updates, as well as holding lessons that all students remember well. The mountains were his only loveski mountaineering was in her blood: her excursions around the world were countless, always driven by the unchanged desire to discover and explore, but always aware of how her passion could also bring more or less predictable dangers. How was his last outing in one of the most spectacular and difficult crossings of the Ampezzo valley: however with a different ending, unfortunately something went wrong this time.
