In Modena some flags of April 25th were torn down

On this splendid day of celebration, characterized by great popular participation in meetings and demonstrations to remember the liberation of Italy from the fascist dictatorship and Nazi occupation, there are those who have tried to dirty a date, April 25th, which unites all anti-fascist people.

Some acts of stupid hooliganism or cowardly intimidation, which occurred in Modena and Carpi, vainly sought disgrace and provocation, tearing down the Italian flags which, organized by the ANPI, commemorate our national holiday. A celebration that unites all those who share the Constitution born from the Resistance. A celebration of the plural Italian Democratic Republic, built with the blood of thousands of young people, women and men who with their sacrifice have given us and future generations a hope of peace, freedom, social justice.

Whoever offends the Resistance offends Italy. Likewise, those who argue about the singing of “Bella ciao” by the students of the Citadel schools only demonstrate ideological hatred and ignorance. “Bella ciao is a love song, love for freedom, for the homeland, for hope in the future and for the loved one, for the partisan who died for freedom. Only those whose hearts are turned off by fascist ideology can consider “Bella ciao” a biased song.

(Vanni Bulgarelli, President of ANPI Provincial Modena – ETS)
