OSTUNI – After the demolition of some illegal works built in the historic center of Ostuni, the typical view of via Gaetano Tanzarella Vitale returns to its original and captivating appearance. The works were carried out on Monday 22 April 2024: goodbye to the masonry planters, a metal pergola and the stone seats, which should not have been there. The workers of the Ostuni company that carried out the work restored the state of the places, following determination number 620 of 8 April.
The managerial act, “Public Works” sector, provided for direct assignment for an amount equal to 4,600 euros, to which VAT is added at 22 percent, for a total consideration of 5,612 euros. The abuses were ascertained by the Urban Planning, Construction, Suap and State Property sectors of the Municipality, in synergy with the local police officers of the White City. For these works “no building documents have been submitted to the Suet of Ostuni, nor does it appear that these works have been carried out by this civic body”, we read in the determination.
Also in the deed, photographic documentation is cited, which indicates that the works were carried out by unknown persons and in the time span from 2008 to 2021. Therefore the Municipality took the “short route” and contacted the company Ostuni. After the publication of the determination, the workers proceeded to demolish the illegal works. And so this glimpse of the renowned White City has returned to its original state.
