This morning (Thursday 25 April) the partisans, the military victims of the war and the people of Rimini who fell under the bombings that hit the city from 1 November 1943 were commemorated with a procession that passed through some places of memory in the city of Rimini. almost continuously until September 1944.

The heartfelt ceremony commemorating the fallen, which took place this morning for Liberation Day – the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Italy from the fascist regime and Nazi occupation – started at 10 am, from the resistance monument in Parco Cervi. Where the authorities gathered, the Prefect of Rimini Rosa Maria Padovano, the Deputy Mayor Chiara Bellini, the partisan, combat and military delegations, the students and many citizens – for the usual laying of the crown.

A procession that reached Piazza Cavour, where it joined the many citizens who participated in “Rimininbici”, the ecological cycle ride organized by the Dopolavoro FF.SS. and by the Volunteer Ecological Guards, which started from Piazzale cinema Settebello, in via Roma.

In Piazza Cavour, the Deputy Mayor Chiara Bellini and the president of Anpi di Rimini, Silvia Zoli, spoke for the celebratory speech.

In the afternoon, at 2pm, the initiative will take place, organized by Anpi Rimini, which involves placing flowers on plaques in streets and squares dedicated to partisans and anti-fascists. City places named after the women and men of the Resistance. An appointment, which closes a cycle of events organized in recent days, in collaboration with the ANPI section of Rimini, the Institute for the History of Resistance and the Contemporary Age (ISREC) of Rimini and the Rimini Women’s Coordination.

Among these the meeting that took place in the Cineteca last Friday: “A song for the Resistance” (Sara Jane Ghiotti, voice and arrangement; Giulia Lazzarini, viola; Elisa Lazzarini, cello) and the presentation of the volume, “Una storia dei women’s rights”, Il Mulino 2023 – by Alessandra Facchi and Orsetta Giolo.

Yesterday (Wednesday 24 April) the ANPI of Rimini, like every year, participated in the ceremony held in the Officine Grandi Riparazioni, in memory of the railway workers who fell in the fight against Nazi-fascism and for the liberation of Rimini. A commemoration in which the Councilor of the Municipality of Rimini Francesca Mattei and the president of Anpi Rimini Silvia Zoli intervened. Also yesterday, in the afternoon, in the Cineteca Comunale, a meeting took place with Antonella Salomoni, professor of Contemporary History at the University of Bologna, entitled: “Destroying and transforming the past – Reflection on the culture of erasure of the past”.
