Marco Borrello receives the San Marco Prize.

In the Council Room of the Municipality of Pordenone, in the presence of the local authorities, the mayor of Pordenone and the President of the Propordenone Onlus Association awarded the Firefighter Marco Borrello the San Marco Award 2024 with the following motivation: “recognizing its praiseworthiness professional activity an example especially for the younger generations”. The commander, Daniele Mercuri, was also present together with Borrello, representing the command.

The “San Marco” award, in its 5th2nd edition, is of particular importance in the social and cultural fabric of the city and is assigned by a special commission to citizens of the Pordenone area who have distinguished themselves through merit acquired in various fields of activity. On this occasion alongside Marco Borrello, Giulia Bongiorno (doctor) and Giovanni Francesco Scolari (manager) were also awarded.

The motivation.

The attention to the activities carried out by Marco Borrello is linked to his involvement in the rescue operations following the vslow earthquake that hit the territories of Türkiye and Syria in 2023, where he operated in the context of Team USAR, specialized in search and rescue operations for people buried under rubble in the event of collapses of buildings and structures following seismic events. These activities were among the initiatives of aid activated by the Italian State and in which resources from the National Fire Brigade were also present.
