TREVISO – On April 25th, in Treviso, the commemorations for Liberation Day saw moments of tension during the celebration. The demonstrations began with the mayor Mario Conte who paid homage to the fallen partisans at the monument in via Maleviste, in the Canizzano district, a symbolic place of the anti-fascist resistance as five partisans were killed in that place.

Protests to Minister Nordio and Applause for Mayor Conte

The day saw the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, challenged during his speech on anti-fascism in Piazza Indipendenza. His words, considered ambiguous by many present, sparked boos and protests from those who wanted to express their dissent vigorously. Nordio responded to the criticism with provocative statements, further fueling tension.
