A teacher at a high school in Ravenna has been arrested on charges of sexual harassment against one of his minor students. The man, over fifty, is now under house arrest. The judge for preliminary investigations Andrea Galanti signed the precautionary order at the request of the public prosecutor Stefano Stargiotti.
The investigations
According to the investigations conducted so far by the Police, the affair dates back to the end of 2023 when the man would have fallen in love with the student to whom he would begin to address compliments, jokes, messages, as well as giving her some gifts. The professor would have gone, in some circumstances, to the point of sexual harassment and this is why he is accused of aggravated sexual assault. Specifically, it would involve groping and possible attempts by the man to touch the girl. For the young girl the situation became increasingly unbearable, going to school was torture for her, a source of discomfort and stress. He started suffering from panic attacks. So the day came when she could no longer keep this secret that was bigger than herself and she confided in her mother, explaining the real reason why she no longer wanted to go to class. At this point, it was inevitable to contact the police, providing all the details of the affair. The specific section of the Ravenna Flying Squad immediately set in motion, collecting the elements underlying the restrictive measure.
The warrant interrogation
During the interrogation, the teacher made spontaneous statements in which he spoke of misunderstandings with the young student. According to his version, he never had the intention of groping the minor student, who would have misunderstood his gestures. Subsequently, the defense requested the mitigation of the precautionary measure, on which the investigating judge reserved his decision. Even if the request is accepted, moving from house arrest to just a ban on approaching the student, the teacher would not be able to resume work at school anyway. The management of the high school, which only became aware of the facts when the man was placed under house arrest, proposed maximum collaboration with the investigators to clarify all aspects of the matter.
