The start of the season was in line with Ferrari’s expectations. The goal remains to be the second force in the World Cup, seen in the great advantage that Red Bull has acquired over the months. However, there is always the desire to close that gap and seek more victories, and for this there is a need to bring constant developments. The larger package will arrive in Imola, although something will be brought forward, albeit reluctantly, in Miami. Indeed, Sprint weekends do not allow us to make the usual comparisonsthat is, giving the new part first to one driver and then to the other, and at the end of Friday comparing the sensations and results.
“In Japan the Ferrari technicians told us over and over again that the developments there will be only and only in Imola; in theory they wanted to bring a fund advance already to Suzukabut they failed to prepare a third spare component and gave up. Then after China’s colorless performance they started saying that there will be an advance in Miami“, commented Franco Nugnes to the Motorsport Italia podcast.
The word then passed to Giorgio Piola, technical expert: “Ferrari would have liked to bring the innovations to Imola to make a good comparison, given that Miami will be “the race”. It is logical that now they want to look for a compromise, because it is not ideal to introduce the updates with the Sprint, and we need to understand also what they will add that is secondary, what is not seen. The aim is to arrive at Imola with clearer ideas and introduce an important package, which will not only involve the fund“.
