Not just cinema. The The 72nd Trento Film Festival is running out of time. There Irish chromaticity, an invited country, contaminates the streets of Trento. The greenL’orange and the white symbolize theunion of different communities.

Off we go Friday 26 April with the intervention of journalist Beppe Severgnini, protagonist of the opening evening at the Teatro Sociale of Trento. Multiple initiatives and lots of cinema. 120 films selected, 25 in international competitionedited by Mauro Gervasini. Beyond 160 appointments for every interest, for the whole city, for Trentino and beyond.

The places chosen are increasingly numerous and highlight the countless possibilities that Trento and beyond offers. From the usual spaces of Piazza Duomo, the Filarmonica and Piazza Fiera, such as the Muse, the Sosat, the Casa della Sat and the Teatro Sociale, we expand into unusual locations. Some examples? The church of Santa Maria del Suffragio in via del Suffragio 63 in Trento will host the event “Acclimatize to the light”; the gardens of the Buonconsiglio Castle will open at “The Art of Breathing: Managing the Mind by Controlling the Breath”.

The Augustinian Cloister will present with the Destination Ireland section. “John Ball – Explorer of the Alps”, book by Fabrizio Torchio presented by Leonardo Bizzaro and Simonetta Radice. And then it is a now consolidated Cultural Center in Trento for lovers of arthouse cinema and photography HarpoLab in Piazza Garzetti 24, involved with various events including Masterclasses: “Miyazaki Sensei” edited by Filippo Mazzarella. Return the Crafts park great reference for schools, in Piazza Fiera, with workshops, installations and programs for families.

Every afternoon, from 7pm, in Piazza Cesare Battisti we will discuss varied mountaineering topics with authoritative exponents of the environmental protection of the high lands, review promoted by The Othermountain. Current affairs are at home at the Trento Film Festival with meetings about women who grew up under an oppressive government like the Iranian one. With Emotions between the Pages: “I was a rock now I am a mountain, my battle for women’s rights in Iran” sees the presence of Nasim Esqi book written with Francesca Borghetti.

We retrace the routes that the Iranian mountaineer has opened, in Iran, Armenia, Georgia, India and Europe: the event will be held in Philharmonic Hall, in via Giuseppe Verdi 30, Trento, on 26 April. In cinema, women directors are making their way in the films selected at the Festival: they are an expression of the Trentino area, Katia Bernardi and Cecilia Bozza Wolf.

Katia Bernardi presents a documentary with an intriguing title in the Horizons Section: “Such is the vine. Endrizzi, the stories behind the story”. A mix of stories from a historic family, symbol of Trentino wine. Cecilia Bozza in Special Screenings presents “Phsis”, with the artist technologist Archangel Sassolino who creates a work for the spaces of the legendary Arte Sella.

A programming full of possibilities for everyone, from mountaineering to auteur cinema, to enhance a territory and a historic International Festival. To attend the screenings and avoid queuing at the checkout, we recommend purchasing the tickets online: trentofestival.it. The festival will take place from 26 April to 5 May 2024.
