In Avellino the ceremony for the 79th anniversary of the Liberation of Italy was, as per tradition, celebrated in via Matteotti in the presence of civil and military authorities. The event began at 10.00 with the deployment of the training department, which was followed by the influx and positioning of the authorities, of the medal collection of fighters and veterans and of the combat and military associations, of the banner of the city of Avellino, decorated with the Gold Medal for Civil Valor and the Gold Medal for Civil Merit, and the Banner of the Province.
After the honors to the Prefect of Avellino, who from 6 May will take service in Rome as Extraordinary Commissioner for the recovery and valorisation of assets confiscated from organized crime, and the review of the deployed Department, the flag raising ceremony and the deposition took place of the laurel wreath, with the Guard of Honor at the Monument dedicated to the Fallen. For Paola Spena it was also the opportunity to say goodbye to the city and take stock of his role in Irpinia.
The event was accompanied by the Italian anthem and marches performed by the students of the “Cimarosa” Conservatory of Avellino, and saw the participation of a representation of young people from the province who, in collaboration with the FAI Giovani of Avellino, had the possibility of visiting the Cloister and the Hall of Mirrors inside the Government Palace.
The Avellino Fire Brigade, led by Commander Eng. Mario Bellizzi, were present in the deployment of all the armed forces and with the staff of the National Association of the Avellino section of the Corps together with all the associations.
The ceremony took place in the presence of a large number of citizens. Also present at the event, also with a central role, were “the citizens of the future” with two school groups. At the end of the parade, Commander Bellizzi wanted to thank the operational staff who attended, the members of the local National Corps Association and the documentation service who, as always, created the images of the ceremony.
