While the A2 women’s volleyball team heads towards the final credits with the playoff final between Talmassons and Busto Arsizio, and the cadet championship market begins to move with the first shots, in and out, all is silent at Hermaea Olbia.
The year, tenth in a row in the ranking, culminated 2 weeks ago with the hard-earned confirmation of the category, passing through to salvation and a fourth place overall in the standings behind Offanengo, Brescia and Lecco thanks to the clear home success in the final act against Bologna, condemned to relegation by the Gallura team.
«We played a wonderful survival team: we were constantly growing, and against Bologna we saw the true potential that the team could have had if it had worked every week to give itself these performances. This is my little regret”, commented coach Dino Guadalupi, in his third season in Olbia, after the game. When asked about the possibility of a fourth, the coach replied: «On my part there is full availability: the club will take some time to take stock and think about the future, but in the meantime I would like to thank you for renewing your trust in me despite a certain point of the season the results didn’t arrive.”
As a rule, Hermaea always takes a while to get back on its feet: it’s not a club to hit the bullseye after the season just ended, which goes for the roster and the coaching staff. It being understood that the first operation always concerns the coach, as also happened last year, with the reconfirmation of Guadalupi, who arrived in early July.
The hope is that this year we can start earlier, also because the other teams have already started to make the transfer market, and in the uncertainty, many of the blue and white protagonists of the last championship could decide to settle elsewhere. And that would be a shame.
