Salerno, cruise calendar official: over 100 thousand tourists arriving

Salerno

Salerno Cruises and Salerno Stazione Marittima announce the 2024 cruise calendar: it is the cutting of the ribbon on a long and promising season for Salerno’s maritime tourism.

Salerno, pearl of the Mediterranean, will welcome the “Mein Schiff 6” of Tui Cruises on Saturday 27 April, the third ship of the new cruise season that docks at Molo Manfredi: the Zaha Hadid Maritime Station confirms itself once again as the favorite port of call for the prestigious German company and pillar of the international cruise scene. A certificate that also comes with the comfort of the numbers recorded last season.

In fact, in 2023, over 9 thousand passengers passed through and, in a perspective of constant and further growth, the 2024 calendar foresees an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. It is a clear signal of the consolidation of Salerno’s position as a regular port of call for numerous national and international cruise companies which have at the same time demonstrated growing trust and interest in the Salerno reality. As has now happened post-pandemic for all national and international ports, the docking calendar may vary during the season.

The luxury cruise tourism segment emerges as the most prosperous in this season’s calendar, seduced by the unparalleled beauty of the Amalfi Coast and enchanted by the warm Salerno welcome, destinations particularly favored by the American public. The busy calendar also includes ten “overnights” (cruise ships will stop for more than 24 hours at Molo Manfredi): cruise passengers will thus be able to enjoy, calmly and serenely, the many artistic and scenic beauties of the area.

On the occasion of the recent “Seatrade Global” in Miami, where the world cruise industry summit takes place annually, “Salerno Cruises” strengthened Salerno’s position as an international cruise destination thanks to fruitful meetings held with all shipowners in the sector. Giuseppe Amoruso, president of “Salerno Cruises”, underlines: «Enriching the territorial offer and improving tourist assistance services: our incessant work has made Salerno an access point of excellence to the Amalfi Coast and also as an outpost for discovery of the Cilento Coast. This year’s Seatrade confirmed how Salerno is becoming an increasingly sought-after destination: this interest is confirmed by constant growth expected in the coming years, so much so that we are already thinking towards 2026. We are proud that our commitment has transformed Salerno into a leading destination in the mirror of the Mediterranean. And we are honored to be considered a crossroads for lovers of culture, history and local traditions.”

Giuseppe Gallozzi, president of the “Salerno Stazione Marittima”, also announces important news for 2024. A new daily short-range cabotage route towards Capri which thus enriches the tourist offer of the port and which now includes three daily departures, and a renewed internal layout of the Maritime Station which will thus optimize the management of passenger flows. And it doesn’t end here.

«We are waiting for the outcome of the new connections to Cilento to be able to give tourists an even richer and more complete experience. The new layout of the Maritime Station will allow for a more efficient and safe use of spaces, making this structure increasingly an ideal link between the city and international tourism. The Maritime Station, designed by Zaha Hadid, in addition to being a welcome point, is the first work of art in our city that tourists visit. And like the Maritime Station, the city must also show itself ready for quality international tourism”: this is how Giuseppe Gallozzi comments.

The objective is to position Salerno as an all-round destination, a place where we can offer and let visitors and tourists live unique and extraordinary experiences thanks to the countless cultural, food and wine and naturalistic riches of our area.
