PESARO – Pesaro Zero Waste Observatory, the report and requests. Born within the Municipal Sustainability Council, the Observatory has the task of monitor the waste cyclestarting from the manager Marche Multiservices.

«The Zero Waste Strategy – says Rossano Ercolini, President of Zero Waste Italy – encourages the redesign of the cyclical life of resources in such a way as to reuse all products and reduce the quantity of waste sent to landfill. Separate waste collection in Pesaro is at 67.40%, above the legal requirement of 65% and a little below the regional and provincial average. The Marche is a very virtuous region, fourth in Italy, but they run the risk of missing their on-time fee appointmentwhich is the only way to improve the levels of excellence achieved over time.”

In particular, he clarified Ercolinithe implementation of the rules on preparation for reuse is a priority and is fully part of the Zero Waste Strategy as it allows waste to be turned back into a product, resulting in a waste reduction of up to 10%. In this sense, Zero Waste is trying to promote a national law proposal to establish a bonus on reuse and repair, as already happens in some European countries.

Then he forcefully reiterated the importance of punctual rate and of sanctions as waste reduction and prevention tools, urging the Municipality and Marche Multiservizi to take an active part in this sense.

Massimo Baronciani and Elena Bracci of the Province of Pesaro underlined the importance of correct planning of urban and special waste treatment plants and landfills, recalling, among other things, the numerous reuse and collection centers present in the area for years. «To improve the overall sustainability of the production cycle, it would be important to shift attention to by-productssupporting companies to implement processes industrial symbiosiswhere the waste of one company is useful to the neighboring company.”
