Maxi seizure from a company of the Trevalli Cooperlat group. The Fattorie Marchigiane di Colli al Metauro dairy plant in the Pesaro area ended up at the center of the operation ordered by the Pesaro prosecutor’s office. The operation began before dawn last Monday and continued until late afternoon and led to the seizure of cold rooms, storage compartments, pallets with expired products, documents and large quantities of caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide used, probably, to correct the acidity of spoiled milk. The laboratory was also searched. “The search and seizure activities – explain the investigators – led to a total of approximately 90 tons of milk and 110 tons of dairy products seized, together with approximately 2.5 tons of adulterated substances. The overall value is approximately 800 thousand euros”. The checks were carried out on 10 people and 3 companies “in order to block – they continue – a complex phenomenon of adulteration and adulteration which served to cover and correct the poor state of conservation of products intended for large-scale distribution”. The operation employed a total of over 60 judicial police officers, including Carabinieri of the Nas and Inspectors of the Central Inspectorate for Quality Control and Fraud Repression of Agri-food Products of the Ministry of Agriculture but also 2 consultants, Arpam and the Ast.
The parent company communicated that it has “provided and will continue to provide maximum collaboration in carrying out the investigations – we read in a note provided by the Trevalli Cooperlat group -, in the awareness of the constant and correct work of Fattorie Marchigiane”.
The Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida also expressed great appreciation for the investigation. “An important operation, in the wake of the commitment against all types of counterfeiting and deception on Italian agri-food products. Quality, well-being and safety are strong elements of Made in Italy”.
