Paris, the Moulin Rouge blades fall, no one injured

The blades of the Moulin Rouge came loose last night from the famous Parisian monument and fell into the street: the capital’s firefighters reported this to the AFP news agency. No injuries were reported, firefighters said, adding that there was no longer any risk of collapse.

The French broadcaster Bfm TV publishes a video on its website in which you can see the red ‘cabaret mill without its blades and a photo of the four blades on the road, some bent due to the fall. The accident occurred between 2:00 and 3:00 on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the broadcaster specifies, underlining that the facade of the building was also damaged. The fall of the shovels caused the detachment of three of the large neon letters that form the name of the famous cabaret located on the roof of the building. In fact, the letters ‘M’, ‘O’ and ‘U’, i.e. the first three of the word ‘Moulin’, also ended up on the ground. The shovels, continues the broadcaster, remained in the street – covered by a green tarpaulin – until 8:00, when they were removed by the authorities. In addition to the Paris firefighters, the National Police and a team from the Municipal Police and the Prevention Department also responded to the scene, said Kévin Havet, deputy head of security at the capital’s 18th arrondissement municipality.
