The two robbers who, armed with a knife, threatened the passenger on a train on the Ventimiglia-Savona line in the late evening of March 8th have been arrested, and then robbed her of her wallet containing two ATM cards and around 1,500 euros in cash.
Closing the circle around the two criminals, both Italian and already known to the police, were the soldiers of the Operations Section of the Carabinieri Company of Albenga. The police immediately started investigations following the complaint from the victim who, immediately after the incident, raised the alarm by reporting that she had been robbed, at the threat of a knife, of her wallet containing two ATM cards and approximately 1,500 euros in cash, by two subjects, a man and a woman, while traveling on board a regional train, which was stopped at the Loano station at the time. Immediately after the incident, the two robbers got off the train and disappeared on foot through the streets of Loano, losing their tracks.
Despite the bad adventure she experienced, the woman, who saw herself attacked by two armed people who acted thanks to the fact that at that time the carriages of the convoy were almost deserted, managed to provide a detailed description of the two perpetrators of the crime , which later proved to be crucial in directing the investigations. The subsequent information acquired and the viewing of images from dozens of city video surveillance cameras made it possible to exactly reconstruct the dynamics of the events and identify the two alleged perpetrators of the robbery, a 23-year-old and a 41-year-old Italian man, unemployed and with previous convictions.
The investigation carried out by the soldiers of the Carabinieri Company of Albenga and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Savona was particularly fast and accurate, which allowed the identification and identification of the two suspects, who were found to be not only the perpetrators of the robbery on train, but also the perpetrators of two other different thefts against as many supermarkets in Albenga and another attempted robbery against a clothing store in Ceriale. Currently the man is confined in the prison of Imperia and the woman in the prison of Genoa “Pontedecimo”, in execution of a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the GIP of the Court of Savona.
