Sanremo. Three days dedicated to solidarity and giving. From May 17th to 19th the 62nd national congress of Fidas (Italian Federation of Blood Donor Associations) and at the same time the 41st national gathering. The theme of the congress is “The drop that makes life bloom again”
The first two days, Friday and Saturday, will be dedicated to the actual congress, staged at the Opera Theater of the Municipal Casino. This event involves approx 200 peopleincluding members of similar associations from all over Italy. The program includes a round table entitled “European transfusion systems compared” and the election of new management positions.
There will be an evening dedicated to young people at the Bay nightclub, with a famous testimonial. For a day then, Piazza Colombo will become the “Solidarity Square” hosting around 50 voluntary associations. A giant screen will also be set up.
Sunday 19th will be the turn of the grand finale, with one parade through the city center which will start from the old railway station and end in Piazza Borea d’Olmo, with a solemn outdoor mass. For this day Around 2500 people will arrive by coach from all over Italy which, added to the 200 already present for four days, will be a real boon for the Matuzian hotel sector and that of the neighboring municipalities. Also for these “donation tourists” Fidas has also organized an excursion to the Argentina Valley.

The fact that Fidas Imperia is the first in Liguria in terms of donations and its exponential growth in members which has been recorded in recent times also contributed to the choice of location. The four-day event is sponsored by the Liguria Region, the Province of Imperia, the Municipality of Sanremo and the Municipal Casino.
