«We are almost sold out»

Tourism of April 25th of May 1st: Federalberghi Viterbo looks rosy. The beginning of the spring holidays triggers the first assessments of the tourist forecasts of presences in Viterbo and Tuscia and Federalberghi Viterbo, which regularly monitors the sector, is already making the first previews of the 2024 flow trends. «Federalberghi Viterbo is satisfied with the trend of tourism in Tuscia – says Pier Luca Balletti, president of Federalberghi Viterbo – and the data we are recording in recent days confirm a very positive trend for our territory despite the uncertain weather we are experiencing. The situation in the province of Viterbo is in line with the national trend: Italians prefer to stay in our country rather than go abroad and, for bridges, proximity destinations are favored and, among these, Viterbo is this year among the most popular.” There have been many reservations in hotels throughout Tuscia and, close to the bridges, the remaining free places are almost sold out. «Despite the bad weather, the forecasts for the next long weekends and weekends, as mentioned, are very positive – says Balletti – for the entire Tuscia area. As of April 25th, hotel occupancy is around 90% and we expect to reach full capacity in the next few hours.” The first tourist approach of 2024 is therefore not a false start due to bad weather and, indeed, the numbers provided by the experts are completely satisfactory. «The tourists who frequent all of Tuscia and not just the city of Viterbo – continues Balletti – are organized groups who book well in advance, in addition to individuals who are increasingly in the habit of booking close to departure. The so-called last minute which is increasingly popular as a booking method starting from post-covid. Even for May 1st, even if individual bookings are going slowly due to a physiological factor, we think that there will be a good recovery in the next few days and that we can have satisfactory attendances for the next long weekend too.” These are assessments that give rise to hope for the progress of the next summer season in Tuscia. Federalberghi indicates nearby destinations such as villages and historical-cultural centers as the main attractors of spring tourism and, when the weather conditions improve, they are expected to sell out. The focus, obviously, is on the next summer season which will give the true pulse of the situation on the structural recovery of local tourism after the post-pandemic boom which awaits confirmation in 2024. In times of difficulty resulting from wars and international crises, the tourism economy could be the real driving force, also for Tuscia, of a recovery that everyone is waiting for.
