For the union, the demonstrations organized for April 25th are part of the mobilization of the category that began at the end of 2023 against attacks on press freedom: attacks in the form of laws, on the autonomy of the public service, on the independence of primary information, on the reporters’ income. «Topics brought to the attention of the EU and on which we are also ready to strike», notes the general secretary Alessandra Costante.
In Palermo, the event to which Assostampa Sicilia participates takes place at the Piersanti Mattarella Park in via della Libertà, the English Garden named after the president of the Region killed by the mafia. At 10.15 am the departure from the English Garden of a procession that will arrive in Piazza Verdi where the San Sebastiano choir of the municipal police directed by Serafina Sandovalli will be present.
Finally, at 7pm, a musical concert and speeches will be held at the Cantieri cultural alla Zisa on April 25th.
