Verona Carnival “out of season”
Sunday 28 April in Verona will be Gnocolar Friday. It’s not an error: this is the date chosen by Bacanal del Gnoco Committee for the recovery of the parade postponed to February. To facilitate the smooth running of the initiative and guarantee the safety of participants, some will be in force changes to traffic and parking along the route. Departure of the procession from 3pm from Corso Porta Nuova.
A colorful river made up of 23 allegorical floats, 113 carnival groups and 6 musical bands and majorettes will liven up the streets and squares of the city center from Corso Porta Nuova to Piazza San Zeno. All following the Gnoco’s dad who, as per tradition, will lead the procession on the back of the “musso”.
«It wasn’t easy to find a date in which such an important event could be included and so experienced by the city – he explained on Monday the councilor for culture Marta Ugolini –, which is why we have reached the end of April date. All citizens are invited to participate in this moment of celebration, union and light-heartedness, which thanks to the Bacanal del Gnoco Committeedespite the period, sees the participation of many floats and citizen and provincial committees, who experience this event as the main moment of the long carnival season”.

Change to parking and traffic on Sunday 28 April
From 8am to 8pm, parking ban with the right to remove itincluding motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, in the following streets and squares on both sides of the roadway: Corso Porta Nuova, roadway with direction from Porta Nuova to Piazza Bra, Piazza Bra, Gran Guardia side, Liston, Via Roma, Corso Castelvecchio, Largo Don Bosco, Regaste San Zeno, Piazzetta Portichetti, Via San Giuseppe, Piazza Corrubbio between Via San Giuseppe and Via Barbarani, Piazza Pozza, Piazza San Zeno, Via Porta San Zeno up to the traffic light intersection, Via Vittime Civili di Guerra, (from 00 to 24 in Piazza San Zeno and from 8 to 24 in Piazza Pozza and via Porta San Zeno) and the tourist train, tourist bus and bikesharing services in Piazza Bra are suspended.
From 11am to 9pm, No passing in Piazza Pozza and via Porta San Zeno.
From 12, for the time necessary for transit of the procession and the subsequent passage of AMIA vehicles for street cleaning operations, No passing as the procession passes, in the following streets and squares: Corso Porta Nuova, roadway heading from Porta Nuova to Piazza Bra, Piazza Bra, Gran Guardia side, Liston, Via Roma, Corso Castelvecchio, Largo Don Bosco, Regaste San Zeno, Piazzetta Portichetti , via San Giuseppe, piazza Corrubbio between via San Giuseppe and via Barbarani, piazza Pozza, piazza San Zeno, via Porta San Zeno up to the traffic light intersection, via Vittime Civili di Guerra (in via Vittime Civili di Guerra until 8pm, except organizers).
From 12pm to 8pm, no transit in Corso Porta Nuova, odd numbered roadways.
From 1pm to 8pm the taxi parks in Piazza Bra will be moved to via Pallone, number 11.

San Zeno car park open
On Sunday the San Zeno car park will also be available – 216 spaces – usable for the entire duration of the events with full time hours 8.30 – 23.30, with a single rate of 5 euros.
Safety and prohibitions
To avoid damage and dangers, especially for the little ones, it is forbidden to use, throw and disperse foaming products of all types and types (cans, shaving cream, etc.). It is also forbidden to use all products and substances (e.g. eggs, flour, …) that could soil, harass or cause harm to people, soil and disfigure the ground and goods exposed to the public with the sole exception of confetti and streamers, also spray.

Parade and route
From 12 you can enter the gastronomic atmosphere of the carnivalthanks to the traditional Verona gnocchi that can be enjoyed in Piazza San ZenoWhile at 3pm the long-awaited and historic Carri parade will start which will start from Corso Porta Nuova and then move on to Piazza Bra, Via Roma, Corso Castelvecchio, Largo Don Bosco, Regaste San Zeno, Piazzetta Portichetti, Via San Giuseppe, Piazza Corrubbio, Piazza Pozza and Piazza San Zeno.
For the first time they will parade in their traditional clothes representatives of the ethnic minorities of the city of Veronacoming from: Brazil, Moldova, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Tanzania and Ukraine. A multicultural, inclusive and folkloristic carnival that celebrates peace and sharing between peoples. Another novelty is the return of the Cart of Abundance, which will distribute games.
The start of the parade – narrated live by the hosts Francesca Cheyenne and Mauro Micheloni – will see you as a guest of honor Elena Da Vicodescendant of Tommaso Da Vico, a historical figure to whom we owe, by popular belief, the origin of the Verona Carnival.
