FANO The blackout and the version of Amrallah Mostafa Alashry, a 43-year-old Egyptian, on trial in the Court of Assizes on charges of aggravated voluntary homicide against his wife Anastasiia. A river hearing in which the victim’s mother also testified and said that she had asked her daughter to have someone accompany her to pick up her clothes on the day of the murder. The femicide occurred on November 13, 2022, Alashry is accused of inflicting 29 stab wounds on the 23-year-old in the apartment in via Trieste.

The story

The accused told his truth. «Anastasiia called me twice that morning, she wanted me to go home. I was afraid of being attacked. She was nervous, I thought she might set fire to the house so I went to Via Trieste. When I entered from the living room she was there in front of the bathroom. It was another person, she had red eyes, I stepped back, she insulted me. I saw her hand hidden by the bag.” Here Alashry cries and stops several times. «She took a knife and she wanted to hit me in the neck. I stopped her, grabbed the knife and felt pain in her fingers. She then kneed me in the groin.” Here the story of the facts ends. «I had a black out, I saw everything black, my brain stopped. I thought I was dying. My vision was blurred, I found myself on the ground and I saw the film of my life, my son. I couldn’t get up and when I looked back she was on the floor full of blood. At that moment I wanted to kill myself. I wanted to call the police but I didn’t have my phone with me.” According to him, these are the reasons: «Anastasiia wanted to kill me because she could live her life with her new partner, she wanted my house in Kiev and my car». A long examination in which he said he had never mistreated, offended or attacked his wife. She was the one who insisted on getting married and that she had changed after the birth of her son.

“I don’t want to look at him in the face”

Elina Burina, Anastasiia’s mother, asked to be shielded by a screen for the deposition. “I don’t feel like looking him in the face.” A story interrupted several times by tears. «I opposed the marriage, I didn’t like him: he told lies and was twenty years older. It wasn’t a normal couple relationship. My daughter wanted the baby, but I don’t know if he wanted it.” For three months mother and son went to live with her mother. “He never came to visit us nor did he contribute to the expenses.” When they move to Italy to escape the war, her mother also moves to Fano from June 2022 for three months. She reported that she never saw him hit her, but that she saw him push her. “My daughter told me about physical attacks, so much so that once she had been pushed against the wall and the paintings that had broken had cut her.” Episode denied by him. Anastasiia has a job at Osteria della Peppa and she knows Alessio Pastore. So she decides to leave home. «There had been a request for separation and my daughter had reported Alashry for mistreatment. On November 13th she had to go home to get some clothes to move in with a friend. I told her to come with me. When I returned to Ukraine I was not at all calm.”
