CREMONA – From scam to extortion. The position of the two Neapolitans, aged 53 and 41, one with a criminal conviction, the other with no criminal record, is worsening. arrested by the carabinieri last Friday after a crazy chase, an army car ended up off-road, two others rammed. The Neapolitans were chased and captured for having pulled off the classic “daughter accident scam”. Victims, two spouses over seventy.
Defended by the lawyer Mimma Aielloin the warrant interrogation in prison, the Neapolitans made use of the right not to answer before the investigating judge. Their conduct was serious. They remain in cell.
The facts date back to last Friday afternoon. Around 3pm, the Carabinieri operations center received the husband and wife’s request for help. They had fallen into a trap. First, the phone call from a fake policeman: “Your daughter hit an elderly woman and her granddaughter, both of whom are hospitalized in desperate conditions.” Then the phone call from a self-styled lawyer: «Your daughter contacted me».
To get her out of trouble, 9 thousand euros were needed. Her parents recovered 1,400 of them: together with the jewels they handed them over to the fake policeman who showed up at the house. The fake lawyer called them back: “Don’t call your daughter, because she is in custody.” Hence, the suspicion. Her parents called her: she was at work, no accident.
The crews of the Investigative Unit and Radiomobile intercepted the car with two men on board. When they saw the carabinieri, the one behind the wheel stepped on the accelerator, running away towards the city centre, also chased by patrols with civilian cars and a car radio from the Radiomobile Section. After traveling along Via Ghisleri with dangerous maneuvers and overtaking, the Neapolitans arrived in Piazza Libertà.
At the intersection with via Brescia, the Radiomobile patrol had the accident. The ‘unmarked’ cars continued to follow the fugitives, first along Via Persico, then on the ring road, up to the entrance to the motorway toll booth. Here a blockade was created, the Neapolitans continued to Vescovato. But a little further on, the car took a side street, rammed a gazelle on the side, moving further away towards the A21 toll booth. But a military car reached her, cutting her off before the barriers. To avoid being blocked, the bandits rammed the “gazelle”. Their car left them stranded: the damage suffered was too serious. The Neapolitans have been captured. On the car, the carabinieri found – and recovered – the loot: 1,400 euros, two rings and a gold trophy.
