ROME – Newborn baby suffering from a serious cardiac malformation is transferred from Great Britain to Italy thanks to the interest of the Italian Government. The father expresses his gratitude towards the Italian institutions. The child was transferred thanks to the intervention of the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano and other officials of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The child’s father, originally from Treviso, expressed his profound thanks towards those who made this rescue possible, including the doctors and medical staff of the Bambin Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Romewhere the child was hospitalized.
The newborn, born with a severe congenital heart disease, risked being excluded from surgery in the UKbut thanks to the collaboration between the Italian and British authorities, his transfer to Italy via an Air Force flight was organised.
The transfer took place on Tuesday 23 April, the child having undergone a double surgery at the Bambin Gesù Children’s Hospital today. All this was made possible thanks to the Italian Air Force, the collaboration of the institutions and the work of the medical staff.
The lawyer Simone Pillon, appointed by the child’s family, underlined the importance of international collaboration and thanked everyone involved in the rescue operation.
