He didn’t show up for the appointment, he didn’t answer the phone or the intercom. A strange circumstance for a punctual and precise man like him.

When the police forced the front door of the house in Via Flaminia last Tuesday, the most tragic of hypotheses became a certainty. Professor Antonio Bonifati, a teacher at the Einaudi – Molari institute in Rimini and Santarcangelo, found him lifeless in his home on 30 April.

No signs of forced entry or intrusion by third parties, according to the state police who responded to the scene. Death from natural causes, also according to the medical examiner who first inspected the body of the professor who apparently had been suffering from a serious pathology for some time. Last Tuesday, therefore, in the early afternoon the person with whom the teacher had an appointment, not seeing him or hearing him on the phone, went to his home in Via Flaminia, next to the San Giovanni restaurant, and after trying to ringing the doorbell repeatedly asked for help by calling 113.

On site the police carried out investigations of the case, notifying the judiciary, alerting the medical examiner, and notifying the relatives who live in Castrovillari, in the province of Cosenza. Bonifati held evening courses for the Einaudi institute, as well as covering Italian and history substitutes. He had also taught at Marco Polo in Rimini.
