Also this year, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Liberation from Nazifascism, the ANPI (National Association of Partisans of Italy) of Catania is organizing a demonstration with a procession inviting all townspeople and citizens to participate.
On Thursday 25 April the participants in the event will meet in Piazza Palestro at 9.30 am, while at the same time a laurel wreath will be placed at the Town Hall of Palazzo degli Elefantiwith the presence of the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Catania, to honor the tombstone of the Catania partisans who fell in the fight for Liberation.
The departure of the procession from Piazza Palestro is scheduled for 10 am with the following route: piazza Palestro, piazza Crocifisso Maiorana, via Garibaldi, via Plebiscito, via Vittorio Emanuele; a stop has been scheduled at 11 am in Piazza Machiavelli, at the house of the Giuffrida brothers for the laying of a wreath to commemorate the courage and honor of the two young people who sacrificed themselves for freedom. The march will resume along Via Vittorio Emanuele continuing towards Piazza Duomo, Piazza Università, Via Etnea. In conclusion, a rally and a musical moment will be held with songs by the “Helin Bölek Unleashed Choir” in Piazza Stesicoro, on the Amphitheater side. Initiatives are planned throughout the province of Catania.
