(Teleborsa) – “Today we presented our shareholders with the best financial statements of Intesa Sanpaolo confirming the Bank’s leadership position at a European level in terms of solidity, income capacity and ESG profile. The pillars of our strength are represented by the consolidated commercial leadership of the divisions serving families and businesses; by the significant component of Wealth Management and Protection, by the technologically advanced digital offer, by the management of international activities based on efficiency and by our status as a Zero NPL Bank”. Our bank is the first in Europe in terms of dividend yield: it should be underlined that approximately 40% of these are intended for Italian families and our shareholder foundations, allowing important social interventions in the territories they belong to. The sum allocated to them compared to the 2023 profit alone is equal to 2.2 billion euros. The direct and indirect taxes incurred in 2023 amounted to 4.6 billion euros, an increase of 1.4 billion compared to 2022, with a significant benefit to the public budget coming from the results of Intesa Sanpaolo”.

At the center of our strategies and our capabilities for growth and development there are customers, their trust in the solidity of the Bank and its technological leadership, the strong relationship with the professionals at their service for credit and consultancy. Our priority is listening to their needs. We are an institution serving the country: we support with 1.5 billion euros by 2027 – in addition to the billion for the period 2018 – 2021 – and with a thousand professionals from the Bank, the main social cohesion project of the country, to promote a more equitable society in a structural and concrete way “.

“Technological innovation is a key factor in ours: the new native cloud technological platform isytech, with 2.8 billion in IT investments already made and around 1,550 IT specialists already hired; isybank, the Group’s digital bank which will bring around one million new customers by 2025; Fideuram Direct, the digital Wealth Management platform for Private Banking, which will have 150,000 customers in 2025; artificial intelligence, with around 150 Apps and 300 specialists at the end of the plan”.

In this context, “artificial intelligence represents one of the most development assets important aspects of the business plan 2022-2025 by Intesa Sanpaolo. We are making processes more efficient and developing software that ranges from investment evaluation to service improvement and cybersecurity. Its use cannot in any case ignore the human factor; when we talk about new technologies we must be able to guarantee careful control, maximum security and simple and effective use by both the Group’s people and customers. Thanks to AI we will improve our work by guaranteeing employment. New jobs and new paths will be born within our societies for our people, who are and must remain our strong point. We look at innovation as a great opportunity for the bank and for all the people who work there.”

“Intesa Sanpaolo has long adopted ESG policies and indicators in its way of banking, becoming the first Impact Bank globally. We are the only Italian bank included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, the first in Europe and the second in the world in the Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index 2024 and the first among banks of the same size in the Sustainalytics ratings. We are adding new financing for a total amount of approximately 76 billion euros to the resources provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026 dedicated to the green economy, the circular economy and the energy transition. In 2023 alone we disbursed approximately 1.7 billion euros in Green Mortgages and 5.6 billion euros for businesses
who are committed to progressively adopting a circular economic-production model. Between 2022 and 2023 we issued 8 green and social bonds for a total amount of 7.8 billion euros.

We have adopted credit strategies that apply ESG criteria, allocating approximately 18.1 billion euros in 2023 to new disbursements towards more sustainable economic sectors. Our success is the result of the quality of our people. The significant and extensive organizational changes recently adopted by our Group have as a qualifying element the generational handover of new talents in key positions, led by highly experienced people who have long held roles of high responsibility in the Group. At the same time realizing a particularly significant step in the program that has been underway for years for the valorization of female talent. Let’s face the next ones with a strong, cohesive Group determined to achieve new successes, to the benefit of the real and social economy of our country”, concludes Messina.
