The new dormitory of Santa Teresa, whose work has already begun, will also have its 24 fireproof doors, thanks to the funds raised on ideaginger.it, with the “Open the doors of hospitality” campaign which started last February 7th. Against an initial target of 5 thousand euros, which would have allowed the purchase of the first six doors, 22,343 thousand euros were raised in just over two months (447% of the target achieved). An achievement made possible thanks to the generosity of 80 supporters – people, companies and local associations – who chose to rally around the Opera Santa Teresa in carrying out this significant charity work in favor of the community.

“We thank with affection and gratitude those who have been close to us on this journey – he states the deputy director of the Opera, Luciano Di Buò -. The solidarity we received passed on to us the most beautiful energy: that of a generous community, who believes in the mission of charity that Saint Teresa carries out in support of new forms of poverty. Today, most of the Foundation’s guests are people who have lost their jobs or homes and don’t know where to go. Many are unable to pay their bills and struggle to make ends meet. Our commitment lies in seeking, together with them, a way out of hardship and poverty through opportunities for social redemption.”

The automatically closing fire doors and the construction of a second emergency staircase, the construction of which began in the internal courtyard of the Opera, are included among the interventions required by the fire prevention regulations for the adaptation of the spaces intended for the dormitory, which is part of the expansion project of the House of Charity. The House of Charity of Santa Teresa will in fact become larger: 66 new beds compared to the current 25, of which 18 will be allocated to the dormitory. The works should be completed next autumn: these include those of redevelopment of the premises, improvement of the electrical systems And of the air treatment/conditioning system, also through the installation of heat pumps, in order to guarantee microclimatic well-being and environmental comfort. The total investment is 500 thousand euros.
