The mayoral candidate on the new hospital Alessandro Portesani undertakes to reassure the approximately six thousand citizens who signed the petition in favor of the restructuring of the existing building. “I obtained reassurance from the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana (passed yesterday in Cremona; ed.), to meet the representatives of the ‘Movement for No’ to the construction of a new hospital in Cremona – explains Portesani –. The long expected planning times provide the space to carry out these meetings. The Committee has collected 6000 signatures on its petition and these people must be listened to. The center left demonized them as it demonized the members of the Committee against Biomethane. The centre-right mayoral candidate explains the day after the meeting with President Fontana: “The Region has reiterated its desire to build a new hospital but there are many issues that need to be addressed together beyond the simple building. And it is right that citizens can directly represent their reasons to the Region and its highest exponent, beyond the usual maneuvers of the Milanese buildings. For example, there is the topic of technologically advanced systems for surgery and treatments. The comforts a patient is entitled to. The inconveniences that the patients would have to endure for at least 8-10 years between the construction site for the new construction and then another 3 years for the demolition.”
“For the committee – concludes Portesani –, a new hospital, born from the redevelopment of the existing one, with the exact same innovative characteristics, “projected into the future”, could be a solution with a saving of three hundred and fifty million euros and this too is a fair comparison as it is public money belonging to all of us . We reiterate, as the center right, that we are not against the construction of a new hospital and investments in healthcare. However, the qualified position expressed by the committee deserves careful study at the highest regional level”.
