It has always been the point of reference for Agricollina, the agricultural machinery, livestock and farmyard animals market exhibition, which will take place in Montecastrilli from 26 to 28 April. Relevant stage of the event, Friday at 11.30 am, the Round Table entitled “Agriculture today between CAP, supply chains and territory”, in the Conference Room of the “Don Serafini” Exhibition Center. An appointment – explains Dominga Cotarella President of Coldiretti Terni, who will open the proceedings – with which to reflect on the importance of the primary sector dealing with new challenges, problems and opportunities. Our priority objective is to promote distinctive agri-food supply chains that aim at the economic sustainability of companies, to guarantee quality production and respect for the environment, with a fair distribution of value along the agri-food supply chain. Starting with livestock farming, one of the cornerstones of the local agri-food sector, which is worth more than a third of the regional gross salable agricultural production, with breeders who have worked over the years to increase and improve their production and quality standards, but in difficulty on the management costs and prices paid to companies. Today we are talking – underlines Cotarella – of an increasingly multifunctional, sustainable and central agriculture, but also to be protected as a driver of development for all territories and a barrier against depopulation, especially in the most marginal areas of the country.
The Round Table, coordinated by the Director of Coldiretti Umbria Mario Rossi, will be opened by institutional greetings from the Mayor of Montecastrilli Riccardo Aquilini and from Dominga Cotarella, President of Coldiretti Terni, with speeches from Lorenzo Belcapo, Technical Area Manager of the Coldiretti National Confederation, Michele Michelini, Development Director economic, agriculture, work, education, digital agenda Umbria Region and Michele Toniaccini President of Anci Umbria. The conclusions will be entrusted to the President of the Umbria Region Donatella Tesei and the regional President of Coldiretti Albano Agabiti.
This is the oldest event in Umbria in the sector – recalls Mario Rossi, Director of Coldiretti Umbria – so also in this edition we renew our commitment to enhance it with many activities related to the sector. Agricollina is an important event – continues Rossi – which allows us to talk about the issues still to be resolved, but also about future strategies and opportunities, starting from a careful examination of the economic and social moment, and from the innovations affecting Agricultural Policy Common. We must continue to focus on our territory and its peculiarities, supporting the work and distinctiveness of the productions of our companies, which are increasingly threatened also by the arrival on the market of foods that do not respect our quality paths in terms of the environment, work and Health.
In addition to the Round Table, for all three days of the event, the Campagna Amica Market will be present, a showcase for quality local excellence, with tastings and peasant street food. About ten local agricultural businesses will offer, among other things, cured meats, cheeses, beer, cereals and jams. But also on the program is the agriwalk organized by Donne Coldiretti Terni, to enhance the territory and sustainability. Finally, space to collect signatures to say enough to foods imported and disguised as Italian and defend the health of citizens and the income of farmers, extending the obligation to indicate origin on the label to all food products on the market in the EU.
