Pesaro 2024, discover Fermignano from 29 April to 5 May. ‘Capital squared’ of the ’50×50′ project dedicated to the excellence of the province. Calendar title: ‘Affluence’
PESARO 2024 DISCOVERING FERMIGNANO

Capitals squared’, the symbolic project of Pesaro 2024 which sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in turn, Capital for a week in 2024; special partner ’50×50 Capital squared’ Banca di Pesaro – Cooperative Credit. The program – entitled Affluenze – offers a rich series of activities between nature and culture created with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro Foundation. Among the ‘places’ involved, the Furlo Gorge State Nature Reserve and the former Carotti wool mill stand out – with its magnificent architecture now a hydroelectric production center -, locations which perfectly bear witness to the history and identity of Fermignano.

Present at the conference were: Daniele Vimini president of Pesaro 2024, for Fermignano the mayor Emanuele Feduzi and the events councilor Monica Scaramucci, Jonathan Pierini curator of the week’s program, Giovanni Pagliardini entrepreneur owner of the former Lanificio Carotti, Alice Toccacieli/Associazione cultural Luoghi Municipalities, Gloria De Angeli artistic director of Independence, Paola Marconi of the Pro Loco of Fermignano. For the ‘Cosa c’è DOP’ project, Paolo Cesaretti of the Casciotta d’Urbino DOP Consortium and Otello Renzi, former president of the AIS Marche Sommelier association, protagonist of two of the 3 Fermignano events, spoke.

Thus Emanuele Feduzi: Pesaro 2024 – Capital of Italian culture and its “Nature of Culture” arrive this week in Fermignano and our country is happy and eager to welcome it in the best possible way, highlighting precisely that link between nature and culture that here it is expressed with the authenticity of the natural environment, above all the Furlo, and that culture which is the result of centuries of human evolution in Fermignano. Then the water of the Metauro that passes under our Roman bridge or that which dug the Furlo gorge combines with the cultural legacy of symbolic places such as the Cartiera Ducale, the Wool Mill, the Tower and the many places of art and community, giving us a varied and multi-faceted program. This week of 50×50 Capitals squared is an invitation to everyone to come and discover Fermignano and how nature and culture have shaped our country.

I believe that for Fermignano, as for the entire provincial territory, the 50×50 project represents a great opportunity: says Monica Scaramucci. Our idea, inspired by the three key words of Pesaro 2024 – ART, NATURE and TECHNOLOGY -, was born from the desire to promote our natural and anthropic beauties by relating them to different languages of art. The magical landscape of the Furlo, the places in the heart of the country (medieval tower, bridge, wash houses, small squares, the former Cartiera Ducale, the wool mill which in addition to being a hydroelectric power station is also home to important cultural events), represent an inestimable value to cherish with love and intelligence, to be discovered and rediscovered every day. Fermignano for Pesaro 2024 also represents an important starting point for projects that we will develop in the near future which will have a precious commodity such as water as their common thread. Among the projects I have in mind, the dream remains the restoration of a paper mill between the former slaughterhouse and the washhouses, a strong link with the past capable of projecting us towards the future.

The conclusions to Daniele Vimini: Fermignano is a municipality with which we have shared the path of the 50×50 Pesaro 2024 project from the beginning and for this reason there is a lot of harmony. Special thanks to all the artists and individuals involved who will make this week extraordinary. Thank you for the work of all these months which has led to precious programming and a path that can only be so rich because it started from afar. Fermignano has grown a lot in recent years in terms of liveliness and creativity, there is a precious osmosis with the Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Urbino. It has managed to be attractive to projects thanks also to investments in places such as the recovery of the Carotti wool mill. Above all we see the work of cocreation and territorial sharing. Having put energy, water, regeneration and cultural moments between art, poetry, photography, theatre, dance at the center will be a huge contribution to the 50×50 project and will be a program that could have huge tourist implications for the whole fundamental year for building a sense of community. The long-term goal is to already feel part of the challenge of European Capital of Culture 2033.
