From Bassano del Grappa a worried woman called the police reporting that she was unable to contact her father-in-law, who lives alone in Lecce and who had shown signs of distress in the previous days.
The alarm triggered in Veneto, through the immediate connection between police operations centers, transmitted the request for help to the policemen in Lecce who quickly went to the building where the man lives.
For a few minutes the officers tried to contact the 76-year-old by first ringing the doorbell and then knocking forcefully on the door, without ever receiving an answer.
