THE NEW VENETO PLAN

21 THOUSAND VISITS BACKGROUND: THE NEW VENETO PLAN

In recent years, the Veneto Region has invested a lot of money to try to make up for lost time, especially during the pandemic, and dispose of the tens of thousands of healthcare services that have been in arrears and have remained pending ever since. A lot has been done, but there is still a lot to do: on January 1st 2022 the backlog of visits was 450 thousand, today things are decidedly better but there are still around 21 thousand services waiting to be provided: more than five thousand with ten-day priority, over eight thousand a month and the same amount for less urgent ones. To which must also be added those in floating, i.e. in advance of an appointment, and those booked in overbooking. And so the Region launches a new plan to attack the waiting lists and try to clear the backlog: the Regional Council has launched a plan, which will soon arrive in the fifth commission in the council at Palazzo Ferro Fini, which provides for clinics open in the evening and at the weekend, extended duration of recipes and a brake on intramoenia. What does it mean? First of all, the region authorizes accredited healthcare and hospital companies and private companies to remain open even in the evenings and on weekends.

It will also be possible to resort to the purchase of services by employees, in the guise of freelancers, to extend the hours of activity of the services. In the event of a shortage of internal staff, individual companies will be able to reduce or completely suspend intra-moenic activity, to channel workers, spaces and machinery towards clearing waiting lists. And there will also be particular attention to those over 75, for whom the highest possible priority must be given.
