Tar ruling via Giusti, Codacons: “The Administration boasts and rejoices in the damage done to the people of Civitavecchia”

CIVITAVECCHIA – From Codacons Civitavecchia we receive and publish:

“The Tedesco Administration (fortunately at its end, otherwise who knows what damage it could still have done), boasts of having won at the TAR by demonstrating that the property in via Giusti, subject to eviction by the associations that help citizens, is owned municipal. A circumstance which, obviously, no one has ever contested.

This sentence reiterates and certifies the entirely political responsibility of this Administration, of having decided to remove from the Associations and therefore from the citizens, the use of a property in the most central place of the city to allocate it to the care of ‘homeless’ subjects, precisely at the point where millions of cruise passengers pass, the engine of the city’s economy, and despite the sacrosanct, unheard protests, not only of the Associations, but also of residents and traders, who are still waiting for the answers promised by the almost ex-Mayor.

Not even Councilor Perello, reading his statements, sprinkles his head with ashes and proudly claims to have “acted within his rights and for the good of the city. As always”. We obviously give him credit for the fact that it was his right as a Councillor, and he will have to answer for this to the voters who, in two months’ time, will certainly remember it at the polls (not only of him, but of all the members of the Council who since 2022 they have taken turns confirming this wicked decision on via Giusti). But the fact that he acted “for the good of the city”, on Via Giusti, frankly makes us smile. Given that it is known that residents and traders of the center (and not only) think differently.

Then, it would be appropriate for the outgoing Mayor, instead of boasting about the mess in via Giusti, to explain to the citizens why a few weeks ago, he and his council made a resolution that we will bring to the Council of State, in which, in addition to having identified countless properties available to the Municipality (contrary to what they had communicated to the delegation of residents and traders who asked that the Housing be moved more appropriately to another site), they inexplicably decide to remain in the building in via Giusti renovated with European funds for the “without fixed abode”, only the Police Association (whose President was a candidate as City Councilor in the German Mayor’s lists in 2019), despite having the loan contract which expired in 2021 (therefore also without a title like Codacons, Auser, Time Bank and Unicef), and what’s more with purposes that have nothing to do, we read in the document, with “Housing First” for the homeless, or to provide “security” in public events.

Codacons, for its part, continues to fight to oppose this injustice by appealing to the Council of State, and hoping that the new Mayor who will come will want to find a solution and decide to return the headquarters of the Association that protects the their rights”
