Sei Toscana’s balance sheet returns to profit after four years: «A season of relaunch for the company»

GROSSETO – “The closing of the 2023 financial statements represents a turning point for Sei Toscana and the beginning of a new season of relaunch for the company”. President Alessandro Fabbrinie the Ad Salvatore Cappello thus comment on the unanimous approval of the 2023 financial statements by the Sei Toscana shareholders’ meeting which took place this morning.

“Financial statements that close in profit, interrupting a four-year period of losses, rewarding the efforts made by the new governance in rationalizing and making company costs more efficient and the daily commitment of over a thousand employees – they declare -. In the 2023 financial year, the company’s commitment continued in pursuing the objectives contained in the industrial plan which provides for the progressive reorganization of all collection services in the 104 municipalities of Southern Tuscany and which recorded a particularly high level of investments, equal to to over 46 and a half million euros”.

“In the coming years – says President Fabbrini – a positive contribution in this sense will also come from the use of the over 20 million euros of Pnrr funds obtained from Ato thanks to the excellent teamwork between the regulatory body, Sei Toscana and the Municipalities. The satisfaction of having been the most financed ATO in Italy must constitute an incentive to confirm the working method which was the basis for it”.

From an industrial point of view, during 2023 Sei Toscana managed over 500 thousand tonnes of waste in a basin of more than 900 thousand inhabitants (25% of the Tuscan population). The average percentage of separate waste collection stands at around 58.51% (+3.12% compared to the 2022 figure) with a continuous increase underway also in these first months of 2024. At the end of 2023 the fleet of vehicles and operating machines overall it amounts to 880 units, with 30 operational construction sites and administrative offices located throughout the territory.

“Despite a highly negative macroeconomic context and the ever-increasing demand for services from the Municipalities – states CEO Cappello –, thanks to the commitment of all its employees, Sei Toscana has shown that it possesses adequate operational and management capacity and high capacity for adaptation, elements that constitute the necessary basis to complete the path of change undertaken and provide optimal industrial responses to the legitimate requests of the territory”.

In terms of workforce, the company is counting on as of December 31, 2023 1054 workers. There are a total of 204 female employees, equal to approximately 20% of the total. During 2023, 88 people were hired.

“The entry of the Iren Group has made it possible to obtain significant advantages not only from a financial point of view, but also in the organizational and industrial aspects of the company – concludes Fabbrini -. The integration process will continue with a gradual approach that will allow for the best valorisation of internal skills”.
