“We learn from the press of Viviana Matrangola’s appointment as regional councilor with responsibility for Culture, Protection and Development of Cultural Enterprises, Legality and Social Anti-Mafia”. This was reported in a note from “Libera Puglia” after the governor’s reshuffle Michele Emiliano for the Apulian council. Matrangola, in fact, as announced by l’Immediato, has become part of the regional president’s team. Daughter of the councilor of Nardò, Renata Fonte, killed by the underworld in 1984, Viviana Matrangola was also a representative of the anti-mafia association.
“As enshrined in our Statute, ‘Libera is a non-partisan association’ – they recall in the note – and, therefore, this appointment is simply the result of a personal choice by Viviana, which we respect, but which in no way equates to an assumption of position of our association. We would also like to point out that Viviana Matrangola, who deserves our respect as a person and family member of an innocent victim of the mafia, has not held any position within the Libera association for some time”.
