Trieste Spring Run: the weekend program

Everything is ready for the Trieste Spring Run, the 360° sporting event which in just a few years has become a point of reference for the whole peninsula and beyond, organized by the APD Miramar in collaboration with the Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, the co-organisation of the Municipality of Trieste and the patronage of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region.

Trieste Spring Run is not just the Trieste 21K, the most fascinating half marathon in Europe, the contagious celebration of the Bavisela Family Run, the novelty of the Staffetta Solidale, the confirmed 21K Trieste Spring Roller Marathon or the energy of the Trieste Spring Young. The Trieste Spring Run aims to be an inclusive event in all its facets: it is natural that the calendar of sporting, social and cultural initiatives (announced by the organizers) which will accompany the third edition of an event capable of attracting this thousands of people including athletes, enthusiasts, families, young people and very young people every year. Yesterday, Monday 22 April, the stand dedicated to information and registration opened in Piazza della Borsa. A space in the city center, available to members and curious people, where they can delve deeper into all aspects of the race and related events, thanks to the precious contribution of the volunteers of Asd Trieste Atletica Aps and Apd Miramar, the two promoters of the event.

THE PROGRAM

On Saturday 27 April we begin with the Treesport Bike Contest, the innovative virtual ride that will be held from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm inside the stand in Piazza della Borsa: five teams will compete in an online challenge competing with their bicycles, connected with other participants through an e-gaming platform Mywoosh.

The following day, Sunday 28 April, there will be space for the highly anticipated Trieste Spring Art, new to the 2024 edition: at 10.00 in Piazza della Borsa the works produced by the students of the UWC will be presented in an event open to the public. The next appointment is the one dedicated to the official presentation of the event, which will take place on Monday 29 April at 11.00 with a press conference at the Stand in Piazza della Borsa. The inauguration of the Expo Village set up by Flash Srl, the other big news of the third edition, is scheduled for Wednesday 1 May, at 9.00 am. The village will extend along the Rive Trieste and via Bellini, passing through via Cassa di Risparmio, piazza Ponte Rosso and piazza della Borsa.

On Thursday 2 May the absolute protagonist will be the Trieste Spring Young, an event organized thanks to the commitment of the CRTrieste Foundation and reserved for pupils from nursery schools and primary schools in Trieste (postponed to the following day in case of bad weather) who will run, transmitting their energy and their contagious enthusiasm. The start is scheduled for 10.00 am, the race will take place in Piazza Unità where modular routes will be set up and will last for approximately 2 hours. Following this, the volunteers of Dynamo Camp, charity partner of the event together with the non-profit organization Bambini del Danubio, will present their activities. On the same day, at 4.00 pm, the Expo Center will be opened in Piazza Unità for registration and collection of bibs, which will remain open until 8.00 pm and will feature the artistic installation curated by the artist Jan Sedmak and created with the contribution by AcegasApsAmga. The Urban Nordic Walking route will start at 6.00 pm. And Piazza Unità will also be the setting for the activities on Friday 3 May, with the Nordic workout, from 5.00pm to 6.00pm, and the sports walking, from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. These are simple routes and accessible to all.

4-5 MAY, THE WEEKEND INITIATIVES AND THE COMPETITIONS

The event comes to life over the weekend. On Saturday 4 May Piazza Unità will be the nerve center of the Trieste Spring Run. The race center for registration and bib collection will be operational from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm. The “Sport, Prevention and Wellbeing” conference which will take place at the Salone degli Incanti from 8.00 to 17.00 is of great importance. Many activities are scheduled during the morning: Nordic yoga from 9.00 to 10.00, workout and fitness walking from 10.00 to 11.00, functional stretching from 11.00 to 12.00, and the Social Ride promoted by TreeSport, racing bike ride upon reservation on a city ​​route starting at 10.00 am. In the afternoon there will be a presentation of Speed ​​Hiking (3.00 pm) and the certified Nordic Walking school (4.00 pm). From 4.00pm to 6.00pm there will be space for the presentation of the associations supporting the event and the promotion of all the sports practiced. Following this, from 6.00 pm, there will be a presentation of the top runners and at 6.30 pm the 3×1 mini relay will start, reserved for the novice categories (5-11 years).

Sunday 5 May will be time for the races: at 9.00 the 21K Trieste Spring Roller Marathon will start from Duino and at 9.30 the Trieste 21K. The first Solidarity Relay, branded Dynamo Campo, is scheduled to start at 9.45 am from the Miramare crossroads, the new format with 3 participants and an overall time making up the ranking. The highly anticipated departure of the Bavisela Family Run from the Miramare crossroads is scheduled for 10.00 am. At 12.00 the winners of the 21K and the 21K Trieste Spring Roller Marathon of the Staffetta Solidale will be awarded. The largest groups of the Bavisela Family Run will also be rewarded and other prizes will be assigned by drawing. At 1.00 pm, with registration and independent participation, the “Wings for Life” charity race will start from Piazza Unità, arriving at the Barcola pine forest.
