Grosseto. “The Anpi is no stranger to extreme positions, politicizing April 25th, but the Resistance is not exclusive to one political party and Action wants to forcefully claim this”.
This was declared in a statement Grosseto actionwhich replies to the Anpi on the Liberation Day.
“Let us always remember the Catholic, shareholder, republican, independent associations of the Resistance, with which we preferably identify, who have always rejected the logic of opposing sides – continues the note -. We therefore find it highly unpleasant, and a lack of respect, the statement of Anpi section ‘Elvio Palazzoli’, which invites the mayor Vivarelli Colonna not to appear at the celebrations as an institutional figure and first citizen. We invite everyone to remember that anti-fascism is the essence of our democracy and means opposing those who deny freedom: freedom of thought, expression, religion. Freedom from justicialisms and maximalisms in general. Single thought does not exist, so denying expression to others who believe they are not in line means denying the freedom that they verbally claim to want to protect.
“Reducing society to a small self-referential space, in which others don’t even have the right to appear, serves no purpose other than ghettoizing ourselves. April 25th is a unity holiday because the insurrection was called by the National Liberation Committee, which was the body that included all the unity forces. It was precisely the existence of the Liberation Committees as unitary and representative bodies of all anti-fascist Italians and therefore good and reliable in the eyes of the allied powers, which allowed the Italians, after the Second World War, to be free to decide on their own destiny (referendum, constituent assembly election) and to remain united as a state by overcoming divisions – ends the statement -. So April 25th, Liberation Day, may be the day of Freedom for everyone, no one excluded!”.
