Here are the institutional celebrations scheduled for April 25th in Cremona.
At 9, at the Cemetery, there will be a demonstration in memory of the Fallen, with an outdoor mass. At the end of the mass, accompanied by the trumpeter of the “Città di Cremona” band, a procession will form and parade inside the cemetery to pay homage to those who gave their lives for the defense of freedom, stopping in front of chapels and monuments commemorative.
At 10.15am, from the small square in front of the church of San Luca, the procession will start and will march from Corso Garibaldi to Piazza del Comune. The procession, as always, will be preceded by the “Città di Cremona” Band Complex, by the historic tricolor flag, by the banners of the partisan associations and by the banners of the Municipality and the Province.
There ceremony in Piazza del Comune will begin at 11 with the interventions of two girls, students of the “S. Anguissola”, of the vice-president of the Province of Cremona, of the partisan associations of Cremona. Mayor Gianluca Galimberti will conclude the series of speeches.
The deposition will follow of the wreaths on the tombstone of the Fallen for Freedomto the plaque Gold Medal of the Volunteers of Freedom Corps in the Federico II courtyard and to the plaque dedicated to the Cremonese Women of the Resistance.
At 12 in the Sala dei Quadri of the Palazzo Comunale the Resistance scholarships will be awarded.
For Liberation Day laurel wreaths will be placed in various areas of the cityin particular in via Ghinaglia (tower of the former castle of S. Croce), at the small temple of the Risen Christ, located next to the church of San Luca, in via Manini, and under the plaque commemorating Giuseppe Robolotti.
NON-INSTITUTIONAL EVENTS
There will also be space for social claims in the procession that will reach Piazza del Comune from San Luca. In particular, there will be a delegation from the lworkers fired by ProSusthe slaughterhouse undergoing controlled administration which saw the occupation by workers supported by the USB union.
The exponents of the will also parade with their own insignia BiometaNO committee: “Less than a month from the next Services Conference – this is their statement – we ask those who want to join to join our group to testify to our presence not in defense of ‘our gardens’ as the promoters of the plant are propagandizing with vulgarity and arrogance, but in defense of the future of our territory”.
