“Forget a Man” is released by Nos Records Label

In the history of the Italian alternative there are names that represent the stainless guarantee of a coherent, long-lasting, uncompromising and always recognizable path; one of these is certainly that of Marco Anconathat the magazine Rolling Stone he bluntly defined “one of the key artists of the Italian underground”.

His recent and long-awaited first solo LP, “When only the name remains” (released for NOS/Believe last November), gave his fans a completely renewed artistic work, although always permeated by an unchanged rock power, after the glories of Bludvidia, of the Fonokit and the cult project Amerigo Verardi & Marco Ancona (three of the independent rock bands most appreciated by critics and audiences in the nineties and 2000s). A manifesto record, practically an LP of great singles, like When only the name remains, On the streets of no one, The revolution, You don’t listen anymore.
The closing of the circle of this work and the definitive completion of this album also enrich 2024 with a further brand new single which represents the fullest point of Marco Ancona’s creative maturity.

It’s about Forget a man, a powerful and rough piece but at the same time introspective and evocative. A single that exudes pathos and drips blood and tears, like those that mercilessly and cynically drip from the white roses of its suggestive official video clip.

Forgetting a man comes out in version digital-45 (with a beautiful and unexpected b-side, the unreleased instrumental “12”) and goes alongside the previously mentioned singles in a sort of narrative very close to what could be thought of as a concept album on the contradictions of our time, on its solitudes, on its unresolved conflicts. Ancona’s new single talks about violence against women, but does so in a never explicit and rhetorical way, within a melancholic but at the same time titanic power-ballad, in which guitars and piano follow each other solemnly to underline a highly inspired text and mature (“Forgetting a man / when he is not a real man / and destroys your pride / which you no longer feel”, the refrain mercilessly recites).

Forgetting a man comes out on Spotify and on all digital platforms on April 5th for NOS Records/Believe Music Distribution, once again accompanied by a splendid official video clip signed by Piernicola Mele (and starring the expressive face of Chiara Piliego), who with a shining white and black, between minimalist still life and dark atmospheres, perfectly conveys the dark but infinitely human atmosphere of the lyrics, music and arrangements of this new single by Marco Ancona.
