three raids in Salento against building abuse

Building abuses in areas burdened by landscape restrictions (i.e. subject to particular protection by the Regional Territorial Landscape Plan (PPTR) and by the Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code (Legislative Decree 42/2004). In essence: unauthorized constructions in woods or areas of particular landscape value. In Salento the Lecce forestry carabinieri group combed the entire southern province with the Another Brick operation.

A crucial support for the effectiveness of the operation is provided by the helicopter supplied to the 6th Unit of the Army, based in Bari-Palese, without which it would be difficult to see buildings built behind the cover of vegetation or high walls.

The details

In the last few hours, 3 “blitz” have been carried out: the soldiers of the Tricase unit have reported a person in the countryside of Castrignano del Capo, for building defects consisting of an elevation and a basement, and 4 other subjects in the Salve countryside, placing them under seizure, in execution of a GIP order of the Court of Lecce, a “lamia”, 2 “pajare” and a further building, all illegal. The Foresters of the Otranto Unit, however, referred three people to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Lecce for discrepancies consisting in the elevation of the surrounding walls and 2 entrance columns, leading to work on the perimeter walls of agricultural lands.

The 8 people involved in the 3 confirmed episodes will have to answer, in various capacities, for the crimes referred to in art. 181 of the aforementioned Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape, and of art. 44 of the Consolidated Law on Construction and Urban Planning (Decree of the President of the Republic 380/2001).
