Vandalism in Piazza Martiri Belfiore, baby gang barricaded in the entrance hall of a building

TREVISO – Many residents feel under siege. The baby gangs that run around the square are up to all sorts of things. «And now we have to be afraid» does not hide, still shaken, Mrs. Francesca (her name is fictitious to protect her from possible retaliations), who on Tuesday called the police after a group of kids he attempted to kicking in the door of his apartment building in Piazza Martiri Belfiore. The baby gang, after trying to sneak into the building, damaging the entrance, was put to flight by the woman’s screams and fled and found shelter in theentrance hall of another condominium, where the group is barricaded until the police arrived. “They were all identified by the officers, there were 6 or 7 of them, I don’t know if they were reported – explains the woman who makes no concessions when describing the small groups that roam around here -: they are small criminals”.

It all began around 6.30pm yesterday, when the middle-aged lady heard rumblings from the entrance hall of the house. «I heard thuds and I looked out the window screaming: “What’s happening”? Immediately afterwards a woman passing by pointed out to me some guys they had just before kicked the entrance and they were running away. I got out and we saw them running towards Via Radaelli. Then I checked the door, it had been damaged. I don’t know why they tried to enter.” Initially, the rumor circulated in the square that an elderly woman had been surrounded and threatened, and perhaps for this reason, in a few seconds, Santa Maria del Rovere was filled with police patrols, carabinieri and traffic police. In the meantime, the small group of bullies had barricaded themselves in the entrance hall of a building in Via Radaelli. And it is here that the police, after a brief negotiation, identified those present and reconstructed what happened. «Among them there were those who even took selfies» witnesses report. Some of the young people were taken to the police station to await their parents, to whom they were returned. Complaints are evaluated.
