L’AQUILA – The temperature is rising in the municipality of L’Aquila fueled by the succession struggle that will start after the resignation from the position of president of the municipal council of Roberto Santangelo, of Forza Italia, re-elected in the Regional elections with over 9 thousand votes, and appointed councillor. The two positions he now holds, it should be remembered, are not incompatible, but compared to the vice-presidency of the Regional Council which he held in the past legislature, for the politician from L’Aquila who is on the rise, he now becomes a councilor with responsibilities for social policies, training and education, research and universities, cultural and entertainment assets and activities, is a different matter.
The Vittorini hypothesis, close to both the mayor Biondi and the senator Liris, who now controls the provincial coordination with the victory of the membership and the appointment of his trusty as secretary Claudio Gregori, mayor of Barete, would clearly be a humiliation for Forza Italia, which not only would not have the department invoked, but would also lose the position of prime minister. And this is an undoubted strong point for Mayor Biondi, in the event that the presidency also goes to Fdi. In addition to Vittorini, it should be remembered, there is also the name of the group leader Leonardo Scimia.
One thing is certain: Biondi can’t help but see a council reshuffle that could occur on the occasion of a change at the top of the city council. And he also fears the possibility, which someone spoke about in one of the meetings, of compensating the presidency of Fdi with the position of deputy mayor for the future of L’Aquila.
