Participated and integrated urban security are the main themes of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security chaired today, at Palazzo Malaspina, by the Prefect of Pavia, Francesca De Carlini, in the presence of the President of the Province, Giovanni Palli, the Police Commissioner, Nicola Falvella, and the Provincial Commanders of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police, Marco Iseglio and Ugo Poggi.
The Memorandums of Understanding for Neighborhood Control were signed with the Mayors of Barbianello and Casanova Lonate, Claudio Cazzola and Stefano Lucato, which bring to 49 the municipal administrations in the province that have equipped themselves with this additional tool for coordinated territorial control from the Control Room established in the Prefecture and made possible, in concrete terms, by the widespread presence of the Carabinieri in the area.
Stimulate citizen participation and awareness regarding urban security, through collaboration and structured dialogue with the police forces for the prevention of criminal phenomena, promoting mutual attention and social neighbourhood. This is the purpose of the Neighborhood Control Protocols which, by valorising, with appropriate methods, the reports of the community, allow the expansion of the traditional lines of intervention to protect order and safety, acquiring preventive information with respect to situations liable to disturb orderly civil life or create insecurity and illegality, so the Prefect, in the margin of the acronym.
Also approved by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, in the presence of the Security Councilor and the Commander of the Local Police of Pavia, 28 video surveillance projects presented by as many Pavia Municipalities[1] with which the Prefect has signed Pacts for the implementation of urban safety for the planning of joint strategies aimed at strengthening citizens’ perception of safety and combating all forms of widespread illegality in the area, which see video surveillance systems as a privileged tool for preventing and combating widespread and predatory crime phenomena.
The projects, developed by the municipal administrations and preliminarily examined by the Prefecture, with the support of the Police Headquarters and the Carabinieri, will be evaluated by the Ministry of the Interior for the assignment of funding at national level – equal to 19 million euros for the the year 2023 – to support local authorities in the creation and expansion of urban video surveillance systems, intended for the areas most affected by phenomena of degradation and illegality.
In the presence of the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Pavia Chamber of Commerce, Giovanni Merlino, the Committee then discussed the accession and implementation in the province of Pavia of the Anti-robbery video alarm protocol.
The Prefect, in presenting the content and purposes of the document, thanked the Extraordinary Commissioner for his willingness, resulting from the constant discussions between the Prefecture and the Chamber of Commerce, to support, through dedicated tenders, the installation in the commercial establishments that wish to adhere to anti-robbery alarm systems, connected to the operations centers of the police forces for immediate alerting and timely intervention.
The signing of the Protocol is expected very soon.
